Cover design series for two softcover pocket books. The aim of this work is to interpret the book content into visual terms with the use of narrative images. Key moments of the stories are material to produce images evoking an atmosphere or specific elements, which readers are about to discover.
As a team we designed the visual communication of the event called Weltenreise organized by the University of Basel. Lecturers from various disciplines hold presentations about the topic Face and Identity. Our team developed the design of all printed products and of the visuals shown during the presentations.
Team Visual Communication: Tanja Devald, Aaron Estermann, Rahel Hediger and Capucine Matti, for the FHNW HGK Visual Communication Institute, mentor: Dirk Koy.
A visual essay: the images are made with gravure printing and offset printing techniques to visualize aspects of materiality. The final layout enhances the message transmitted by the pictures. This work was created at the printing workshop Druckwerkstatt Lenzburg. The first prints represent the four elements and the latest are trying to capture a light beam onto paper. This visual essay has been published in Modell Mensch – Konturierungen des Menschlichen in den Wissenschaften (Collegium Helveticum).
Creation of the print products (poster and flyer) and exhibition concept for a fictive exhibition about book cover designs.
Anatomy of a typeface: this book is an investigation of the aesthetic of Guardi. The visualisations and layout enhance the organic aspect of this font.

Intervention in public space: this project took place during the Basel Museum Night 2015 within the exhibition of the Basel Poster Collection from the Schule für Gestaltung: "Love to Hate". In a team we investigated the question of censorship: we transferred the process of pixel blurring from the digital world into the reality. We applied it to shop windows to confront the passer-by with an unexpected situation.
